Former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice was on on “The View” Thursday and gave the amazing reason she supports the Second Amendment. She explained that it is because her father used guns to protect her neighborhood from the KKK.

She explained that she grew up in Birmingham, Alabama during the civil rights movement and could not depend on the police for protection.

“So when White Knight Riders would come through our neighborhood, my father and his friends would take their guns and they’d go to the head of the neighborhood, it’s a little cul-de-sac and they would fire in the air, if anybody came through,” Rice argued.

“I don’t think they actually ever hit anybody. But they protected the neighborhood. And I’m sure if Bull Connor had known where those guns were he would have rounded them up,” she continued. “And so, I don’t favor some things like gun registration.”

Rice noted that she does believe on having some restrictions on gun ownership, but that also there is not one “single fix” that can solve the issues of events like the Parkland shooting.
